“The ZRP is investigating fire incident which occurred at a house along West Road, Tshovani Chiredzi on 13 April 2025. One person was burnt beyond recognition. However, sources told EnviroPress that the deceased was Sergeant July Nota of the Chiredzi traffic police section.
“A body was later found inside the house and is suspected to be that of Sgt Nota of traffic department here in Chiredzi. The house which he burnt did not belong to him; he stayed there with his girlfriend after his divorce two years ago. They two had an argument and we think that was the reason why he did this,” said a source.
Another source said the victim had earlier on hinted through a WhatsApp Status update that he wanted to destroy everything including himself.
“He was later on seen holding a container of petrol, and people suspect that he used it to bomb the house,” said the source.

In a related incident which happened earlier on, a money changer named Joe Makuza, was found hanging on a tree near Chiredzi River, having gone missing since the previous week.
