Bikita Minerals joined the rest of the world in commemorating International Women’s Day on March 8th, hosting its inaugural celebration under the global theme: “For all women and girls: rights, equality and empowerment.”
The event brought together over 200 participants in a powerful affirmation of the company’s commitment to gender inclusivity, empowerment, and recognition of women’s contributions to its success.
Addressing the gathering, Bikita Minerals Vice General Manager, Li Wen, paid tribute to the critical role women play within the company.
“Women are the backbone of our operations, the driving force behind our success, and the embodiment of grace under pressure. Whether on the front lines of production, in the boardroom, or in countless roles you fulfill, you have demonstrated excellence, leadership, and unwavering commitment to our shared goals,” said Wen.
He added that Bikita Minerals values diversity and is working to create an inclusive environment where every woman can thrive and reach her full potential.
“This growth is a testament to Sinomine’s commitment to gender inclusivity and to accelerating progress for women. We aim to build a workplace where every individual feels respected, valued, and empowered.
“We recognise that women face unique challenges, and we are committed to providing opportunities for growth, development, and leadership,” said Wen.
The commemorative event was not only celebratory but also educational and empowering. It featured engaging presentations tailored to equip women with tools for both personal and professional development.
Old Mutual’s Darrean Bhene delivered a session on estate planning and investment, while representatives from Stanbic Bank provided a workshop on financial literacy and personal finance for women.
The event left participants feeling inspired, appreciated, and empowered, reinforcing Bikita Minerals’ commitment to building a progressive, inclusive, and gender-sensitive workplace culture.
As the celebrations came to a close, it was clear that Bikita Minerals wasn’t just marking a day—it was cementing a movement. A movement that says women’s voices matter, their work is indispensable, and their future is limitless.
